The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is the largest police force in Canada. It is responsible in most provinces of Canada to perform municipal police duties in those jurisdictions which do not have their own police force. In the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, the R.C.M.P. enforce Federal statutes. Until recently, R.C.M.P. officers wore a working uniform of brown serge jacket, brown shirt, blue tie, long blue pants with a yellow stripe and black ankle shoes. The usual head dress with this uniform is a forage cap, required to be worn at all times except when on office duties. In recent years, the working uniform has become less formal, usually no tie, bullet proof jacket and loose blue jacket. For special occasions, R.C.M.P. officers have a ceremonial uniform which consists of stetson [hat], red serge [jacket], full sam brown [gun belt with cross strap], lanyard, brown gloves, suspenders, breeches [pants with flair at thigh and narrow at calf], brown Strathcona boots, and spurs.

Occasionally retired R.C.M.P. members wish to sell their ceremonial red serge uniforms. I act as broker ensuring that quality merchandise is offered and offers from legitimate collectors are considered. I currently have a line on one complete ceremonial uniform in very good condition. The photos below show what a complete uniform looks like. They are not photos of the uniform mentioned above. I will provide actual photos upon request.

Below are original issue brown and grey wool blanket with the initials RCMP, used on the bed of an R.C.M.P. recruit in 1962. Brown is the primary coloured blanket. Grey coloured blankets were stored for colder use. I have one blanket of each colour in excellent condition, each size 64 inches X 80 inches, suitable for up to a double sized bed.
